We are a Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology<\/strong> research group at Queen’s University Belfast. We use the tools of\u00a0organic synthesis\u00a0and\u00a0molecular biology\u00a0to develop new antimicrobial compounds<\/strong> and create novel chemical probes<\/strong> to assay new antibiotic targets<\/strong>. Our current research interests includes the synthesis of novel antimicrobial peptides. This allows us to determine their bioactivity and how they exert their therapeutic effect. We also develop novel chemical probes to study how polyprenyl-targeting antibiotics work, and the mechanism by which enzymes process these essential glycopolymer building blocks.<\/p>\n
